This manual provides clinicians with detailed information on the process. It describes a non-directive approach used to to gain an understanding of children’s unique functioning, with particular attention to how their sexual thoughts, feelings, and behaviors compared to same-age children. The manual suggests interventions to help clinicians identify thematic material in children’s play that might suggest their underlying concerns.

The PSBAC also includes a comprehensive appendix which includes observation, recording and authorization forms. It also offers report templates, suggested play therapy materials, frequently asked clinical questions and guidelines for responding to problem sexual behaviors in children (in both English and Spanish). Templates for art interventions are also included.
